Garrett Morgon

Early Years

Garrett Morgan was born in Paris, Kentucky in 1877. He was the seventh of eleven children born to former slaves. Garrett grew up with a strong work ethic and a passion for learning. He was determined to make his mark on the world. In 1895, the Morgan family moved to Cleveland, Ohio. Garrett worked in a sewing machine factory, where he developed a keen interest in engineering. In 1907, he married Mary Hassek, with whom he had two children.

Career

Garrett Morgan began his career as a sewing machine repairman and eventually went on to become a successful entrepreneur and inventor.

Morgan Manufacturing Company

Garrett Morgan founded the Morgan Manufacturing Company in 1914. The company specialized in producing and selling sewing machines, as well as other related products. The company was a success, and Garrett Morgan was able to use the profits to fund his other inventions and business ventures.
