Q-Tip

Early Years

Q-Tip was born Kamaal Ibn John Fareed on April 10, 1970 in Harlem, New York. He began his music career as a teenage DJ at local parties in New York, and soon began producing and rapping. His career took off in 1988 when he became a founding member of the influential hip-hop group A Tribe Called Quest.
